Greetings my friend

We are all interested in Ed, that is why you are here.  To feast your eyes and indulge the senses. Can your heart stand the shocking truth that is Edward D Wood Jr !

Edward D Wood Jr was to make out his living some of the time as a writer, producer, director, actor and cinematographer. It was not always easy for Ed. Ever since he was a child he had wanted to work in pictures. He had his first camera when he was eighteen and it was Hollywood all the way. In Ed's case the outer edges of Hollywood.

He worked in theatre for a few years and had a few acting parts. When war broke out he was first in line to join the Marines and saw action in the South Pacific. Ed was awarded with several medals: Sharp Shooter Medal, The Silver Star, The Bronze Star and several others, I do not know which ones.

Heroic or meritorious achievement or service not involving participation in aerial flight.
Awarded by the Chief of Naval personnel to those members of the United States Navy or Naval Reserve who qualify as "Expert" with either rifle or carbine on a prescribed military rifle course.
Gallantry in action against an armed enemy of the United States or while serving with friendly foreign forces.

After returning from the war, he worked in a carnival and wrote a play called "The Casual Company" - about life in war. The production was not a great success.. His first attempt at film was to be "The Streets of Laredo", it didn't pan out to be a success as the budget ran out fairly fast. He was to do many more films in his career but two will stand out above all others. They are "Glen or Glenda" and "Plan 9 from Outer Space". These are his most famous films, I wouldn't say his best. But as far as Cult status is concerned these are a mile ahead of the rest. "Glen or Glenda" stands alone as an autobiographical work on his transvestitism. Ed Wood was to say in his life - "If you want to know me, just watch "Glen or Glenda". That pretty much says it all. "Plan 9" has the cult market cornered. You can't get better than Aliens, 9 plans, re-animated corpses and the destruction of the Universe through the Solarmanite bomb. If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch the movie and it will all become relatively clear.

Later on in his life when funds were low - Ed started writing pornographic scripts and books and even wrote books on fetishes, fantasies and a whole different way of life to what the average home loving American knew about such as "The Gay Underworld" & "Sex and satanic rituals", the list goes on an on. There was definitely a market out there. He also made a living doing commercials and Sex Education lessons on 8mm Reels, which you could send away for, however this project never entirely got off the ground. I could right novel length articles on Ed, so if you've made it this far - I'll stop boring you and let you cruise my site.
